(Richmond, VA- October 12, 2009): Turnkey Promotions, a Richmond, Virginia-based promotions company specializing in non-profit fundraising, announced its recent partnership with the international organization, One Home Many Hopes (www.onehomemanyhopes.org). Turnkey will provide online fundraising support for the 2009 Breaking Ground virtual campaign.
The One Home Many Hopes (OHMH) non-profit organization, established by journalist Thomas Keown in November of 2007, supports Mudzini Kwetu – a Mtwapa, Kenyan orphanage that finds and rescues Kenyan orphans. Working mostly with young girls, the home is staffed by devoted caregivers who stress commitment to long-term educational goals. Ultimately the home seeks to empower the girls to become agents of change, alleviating the poverty within their homeland.
For one month, starting October 19, individuals, small crews, and schools across the United States and the United Kingdom will raise funds to build a new home for the girls. The 2009 Breaking Ground campaign seeks $70,000 in donations. The funds will be used to build an additional residence for the thirty-two children and three house mothers who currently share a four-bedroom home. The Breaking Ground website, (http://www.breakinggroundkenya.org/), will promote and solicit donations. Part of the campaign strategy will be to offer fundraisers “goodies” or incentive gifts that encourage the participants to raise more money for the cause. The incentive program will be administered by Turnkey.
“This is a new adventure for us,” says Turnkey President and CEO, Katrina VanHuss. “We're supporting a single small fundraising effort which exists entirely online,” she adds. “Typically we work with non-profits to raise money within the context of a culminating walk, run or gala within a community. We use income triggered emails and recognition incentive gifts to encourage fundraisers to higher levels. Here, we will apply those same tactics to an online, and virtually worldwide, community. OHMH will also incorporate its own social media strategy to support the fundraising effort. We’re confident this approach will work as the energy driving the fundraiser is his/her commitment to the mission, and we know fundraisers want to wear or use products that associate themselves with the effort,” VanHuss concludes.
OHMH board member Jennifer Hopcroft says, "Turnkey's methods have been tested and proven successful with event-based activities like walks and runs, and we are confident we can duplicate those results with our online campaign. We feel that recognition gifts will motivate people to raise more money for our girls. We're glad to have an experienced partner in Turnkey."
Finally, VanHuss adds, “For me personally, it's not often that my efforts translate so quickly into actual good works, without going through research, testing, uptake/awareness campaigns. Most of our stuff is health-related. The OHMH campaign will provide more basic needs, like shelter. I actually know the names of people who benefit directly from my work. I like it!” she concludes.
