(Richmond, VA- April 7, 2011): For many, summertime means a return to swimming lessons, toasted marshmallows, and arts and crafts projects at summer camp. It is a time to discover the outdoors, try new things, and to learn how to socialize with new friends, yet many special needs individuals do not get to experience this important rite of passage. Beginning April 1, Camp Virginia Jaycee seeks to change that reality through the launch of their Cabin of Dreams Challenge, a special virtual fundraising campaign co-chaired by Turnkey Promotions employee, Tracy Hale.
Camp Virginia Jaycee is a summer outdoor recreational and educational facility for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Camp, a 501 (c) 3 organization, is located in Bedford, Virginia. Originally sponsored jointly by The Virginia Jaycees and the Virginia ARC, the Camp now functions as an independent nonprofit corporation.
“For over 40 years, Camp Virginia Jaycee has provided a place for special needs individuals to really enjoy themselves and to grow socially. It’s a unique learning environment that only a summer camp can provide,” says Camp Board Chairman, Tom King. “This year our goal for the Cabin of Dreams Challenge is to raise enough funds to afford 160 special campers this opportunity free of charge for one week this summer.”
“I’m honored to be a part of this endeavor,” says Tracy Hale, Account Manager, Turnkey Promotions. “I help hundreds of nonprofit realize their goals during the course of day, but as past president of the Virginia Jaycees, this one is close to my heart. I’m thrilled to offer my consulting services and to administrate the campaign’s fundraiser program.”
Hale continues, “The Cabin of Dreams Challenge will launch officially on April 1 and will end May 14. Our goal is $140,000. Our pre-event marketing efforts have launched, and we will have a special Cabin of Dreams fundraising website up for fundraisers where they can donate or setup a fundraising team. Most importantly, we have a program in place to reward fundraisers for their effort. The more they raise for the cause, the ‘bigger’ the thank you gift. I’m really looking forward to getting this campaign started, and to toasting some marshmallows with our Cabin of Dreams campers!”
