(Richmond, VA-September 6, 2011): Turnkey Promotions, a Richmond-based promotions company specializing in nonprofit fundraising incentive programs and corporate recognition campaigns, announced today that it is among the winners of the 2011 Gold Awards for Fundraising Excellence presented by FundRaising Success magazine. More than 125 fundraising campaigns vied for the gold in six different categories. Turnkey Promotions earned the Silver Award in the "Special Events" group for the outstanding results realized during the Special Olympics Iowa 2010 Over the Edge Income Triggered Email Campaign (ITEC).
“We knew the success with this particular method and client was meaningful and unique. It's great to get this kind of recognition,” says Turnkey Promotions’ CEO, Katrina VanHuss.
“Judging day for the Gold Awards is always a lot of hard work and a lot of fun,” FundRaising Success Editor-in-Chief Margaret Battistelli Gardner said. “It’s the culmination of months of watching these incredible packages make their way to my desk and wishing we could name them all winners because, in fact, they are. They represent the most successful, creative and thoughtful efforts of the fundraising sector in the previous year.
“The money and awareness raised by these entries — whether they garnered an award or not – is breathtaking,” she added. “In addition to honoring the best of the best with the Gold Awards, we also hope to shine a light on groundbreaking efforts so that other organizations can see what’s out there, what’s working and how.”
The focus of Turnkey's nomination was the Income Triggered Email Campaign (ITEC) it used during the 2010 Special Olympics Iowa Over the Edge event. An ITEC uses specially crafted and timed email messages to motivate event participants to raise more money. The enticement of a mission-appropriate gift during the email campaign is a critical component of Turnkey's program. The impact on fundraiser behavior was reflected by significant increases in donation levels when the ITEC message was sent; in fact, daily donation dollar amounts increased by 199% the day the ITEC was deployed versus days it was not. Overall, the event exceeded its fundraising goal by 53%. (Results are captured in detail in Turnkey's most recent research: ITEC Analysis: How Fundraiser-directed Communications Impact Donor Activity.)
The 2011 Gold Award winners include World Vision U.S. (Back to School Bounceback "Flight"), Susan G. Komen for the Cure (2010 Global Race for the Cure), and the New York Public Library (Don't Close the Book on Libraries).
