(Richmond, VA – October 11, 2010): Turnkey Promotions, a Richmond-based promotions company specializing in nonprofit fundraising incentive programs, announced today the release of the fundraising incentive program results for the Hydrocephalus Association (HA) Detroit WALK event. The Detroit WALK marked the first time the nonprofit’s leadership incorporated a fundraiser incentive program into their fundraising strategy. Turnkey Promotions developed and administered the incentive program, as announced in the June 8 press release: Turnkey Promotions Announces Partnership with Hydrocephalus Association.
“The Hydrocephalus Association WALK fundraising events have become an important way for us to raise funds for critical programs and research. In fact, what started as a 23- person event in San Francisco has grown into a national program involving more than 5,000 participants,” says Sarah Oxford, HA Regional Program Manager.
Oxford continues, “We realized that many of our events had ‘heavy hitters’ – one person who brings in the bulk of the fundraising money for the event. We knew we needed to diversify our fundraisers in order to raise more money and provide sustainable fundraising. We needed a new strategy that would invite new fundraisers as well as be simple and not add responsibilities to our volunteers who have incredibly full plates. That realization led us to Turnkey Promotions and the incorporation of an incentive program. Our Detroit WALK was our first incentive event, and we are very happy with the results,” she adds.
“Our incentive campaign included email marketing techniques and logo-imprinted products to encourage fundraisers to raise more money for HA,” says Turnkey Promotions’ CEO Katrina VanHuss. She adds, “In this particular case, HA realized almost a 17% increase in the total number of fundraisers and the average income each participant raised increased by over 12% resulting in an overall income increase of almost 33%. These initial results hopefully portend an amazing year of fundraising for HA.”
Oxford concludes, “We were pleased to see the number of top fundraisers had doubled and that we added 17 new family teams. This means we are extending our reach into the community in both fundraising and awareness. Next year should be even better. We are on our way to a much more sustainable fundraising strategy.”
VanHuss and Oxford will be sharing their strategy for the Hydrocephalus Association WALK events at the 2010 Blackbaud North American Conference for Nonprofits to be held October 20-22 in Washington, D.C. To learn more, visit Turnkey Promotions’ CEO to Speak at Blackbaud Conference.
