Turnkey Promotions Becomes Virginia SWaM Certified

(Richmond, VA- April 1, 2010): Turnkey Promotions, a Richmond-based promotions company specializing in nonprofit fundraising, announced today that it is now certified to participate in the SWaM program as administered by the Virginia Department of Minority Business Enterprise (DMBE).

SWaM, (an acronym for Small, Woman- and/or Minority-owned businesses), is a program designed by the DMBE to ensure a level playing field and to enhance opportunities for all qualifying small businesses in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The program was established by Executive Order No. 33 in August of 2006 by Governor Timothy Kaine. Under the Order, Virginia state agencies, departments, and procurement officials are encouraged to meet specific purchasing goals during the year; upon its inception, Governor Kaine set forth a 40% goal for all Commonwealth purchases to come from SWaM certified businesses.
