Need some new ideas for raising money? Try some of these:
- Add a "PS" on all your outbound emails telling your story and ask them to support your fundraising efforts.
- Arrange a dress down day at work. Have employees pay money to dress down on a specific day.
- Ask 10 people for a donation.
- Ask 20 friends (or strangers) for $10 to support you.
- Ask a local hair salon to provide haircuts for a day with 50% going to your cause.
- Ask area restaurants to donate their tips for one night.
- Ask every coworker to donate toward your goal.
- Ask EVERYONE and be sure to thank them!
- Ask for a few minutes on the agenda of any meetings you are in, so that you can explain your cause and ask for a donation.
- Ask for donated pizzas and take to Saturday soccer games or baseball games and sell slices for $1.
- Ask the local high school principal to allow “Caps for a Day” for a donation; kids can wear their hats!
- Ask vendors who call on your company to make a donation.
- Ask your employer for a matching gift.
- Ask your friends on Facebook!
- Ask your local radio station to have a “Donation Hour” and listeners pay for requests to benefit your cause.
- Change the recording on your voicemail to tell callers about your commitment and ask for a donation.
- Distribute your fundraising page to 25 people.
- Don’t forget to sponsor YOURSELF!
- Have a book sale — dust those bookshelves and make some money.
- Have a garage sale!
- Have a party for friends and family. You supply food and drink and ask them to bring a donation for your cause.
- Host a Poker Night with players paying entry and all money is donated to your cause, including the winnings!
- Offer a service (babysitting, car wash, house cleaning) in exchange for a donation.
- Put a link to your fundraising page on your signature line for all emails.
- Save all your spare change, within a few months you are there!
- Save your “date night” money and put it towards your efforts.
- Send a letter from your pet to family, friends, and all those connected to your pet (veterinarian, dog-sitter, etc.).
- Send another thank you note to everyone who donated last year, and ask them to support you again.
- Set a personal goal.
- Solicit a donation from the people you don’t usually ask: hairdresser, pedicurist, insurance agent and accountant.
- Take a walk around your neighborhood. Knock on doors and ask your neighbors for their support.
- Tell your story: Why are you fundraising? Why is it important to you? How will donors make a difference?
- Turn your birthday (or ANY) party into a cause party and ask for donations (not gifts).
